Spring Rec Lacrosse Season Update

30 Jan 2023 by Torry Schoch

Hi Warrior Families!

It’s a little over a week before we kickoff practices for the Spring 2023 Season. You are receiving this 2023 Rec Season update because you’ve either been a part of the program in the past or have a player registered for this season. If you no longer want to be included on updates, please respond back to me and I will update the distribution list. Moving forward I will be primarily using TeamApp for communications, so if you don’t already have the app please go add it to your phone.

We are excited to get things started and I have a few updates in prep for the first practice.

Let me start by saying we have had an amazing start and record numbers this season. Lacrosse is growing in North County, and we are excited to help be a part of that!

The 7th / 8th Grade Group has had record numbers this year. So much so that we will be capping the registration for that group at 70 and only have a few more spots available. If you know anyone else that might be interested, please have them sign up soon.
It looks like we will have two 5/6 Teams (an A & B Team). We still have room for a few more spots at 5/6, so please tell any friends / family that might be interested to sign up soon.
3rd / 4th Grade we need some help. At this point we have enough for a B Team, but need at 6 more to be able to field a full A Team instead of a B Team which is our goal. The board and coaches are trying a number of things to help get us there, but could use your help in getting a few more 3rd or 4th graders. Please put the word out.
We have a strong and growing K-2nd program, but we still have a few more spots open in that group as well. If you know anyone in this age group that is looking for a spring rec program, please send them our way.
I also checked in with the girls’ program, and they still have spots open from K-6th. Here is the link for the girls’ program registration. https://coastlc.sportngin.com/register/form/879867996
A few other announcements:

We have partnered with Adrenaline this year and opened a Team Store that is a better fit for our program. If you are looking for some Warriors gear, please go check it out! It will be open until February 5th, so check it out soon. I have added a Tab on TeamApp right next to the home tab.
Additionally, for those that have players at San Marcos High School, their Team Store is open as well, here is the link. https://smknightslax.itemorder.com/shop/home/
Access Group Requests – Many of you are requesting access to groups from last year’s teams. All the access groups will be recreated for this season, so there is no need to request access to last year’s teams. You will be added to the Team that your player or players will be on, once we solidify who will be on what teams and as part of the registration process you were added to the correct age related access groups, so you aren’t missing anything.
Tomorrow night we will have a Parents Night, it will be a chance to meet some of the coaches and we will do our best to answer any of your questions about the upcoming. If you can’t join us tomorrow, please don’t worry. We will do our best to recreate the meeting at the beginning of practice on Wednesday February 8th and you can always contact me directly with question (Coach Torry – 760-672-5280)
Finally, thanks for your patience as we worked through a few field allocation and scheduling issues. We have had to move practices from Tuesday and Thursday to Monday and Wednesday this season. I know this may cause some issues for some, please contact me to discuss options.
Practice will start on Monday February 6th and between now and Daylight Savings which falls on March 12th we may have to adjust practice dates a bit to ensure we have enough field space. We will try to avoid that as much as we can, but without lights on SEMS we will have to do our best. For now, until practice on March 13th, all teams will practice together. We will have the SEMS football and Upper Soccer fields, the gates will open at 4 PM, practice starts at 4:15 and will run until sunset (which will end up being 5:15 to 5:30)

For practice / games the boys will need the following:

· A water or Gatorade

· A mouthguard

· Cleats

· Helmet

· NOCSAE standard Chest Pad

· Elbow Pads

· Lacrosse Gloves

Ok, we realize that’s a lot of information. So if you have specific questions on the above or if there is a question that wasn’t addressed, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us directly.
